William Frederich Nickerson's Obituary

William "Bill" Frederich Nickerson, 79, of Pittsfield, NH, went home to the Lord on April 4, 2026, after courageously battling multiple illnesses. True to his character, he remained a fighter until his final day.

Bill was born to Charles and Elaine (Marquis) Nickerson and was raised in the Caldwell, New Jersey area. He graduated from Essex High School in 1965 and from Nathaniel Hawthorne College in New Hampshire in 1969, where he majored in Business and minored in Art History.

Bill lived a full and active life devoted to his family, his business, and many things he loved. Bill started Northern Pine Millwork Corporation in the early 70s in Franklin, and in 1978 moved the business to Tilton, NH where he designed and built custom furniture and cabinetry for 36 years. He was deeply passionate about his craft and took great pride in every piece he created. Bill was a highly creative and talented man whose skills extended far beyond his business.

He enjoyed weightlifting, sports cars, maple sugaring with his family in their sugar house, and forging knives. Bill possessed a remarkable depth of knowledge and was known as someone who could fix or build almost anything. With an inventor's mind and a love of learning, he could often answer nearly any trivia question. He was also well known for his quick wit, humor, and trademark sarcasm.

Bill was actively involved in his community. He served as a Selectman for the town of Northfield, was a member of the Economic Development Committees for both Tilton and Northfield, and served as Police Commissioner for the Northfield Police Department.

Bill was a member of Northwood Congregational Church. He was also involved with Christian Medical Mission, serving in the Dominican Republic where he grew to love the community and was passionate about helping those in need.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Margie; his daughter Macy; his daughter Melissa Pucci and her husband Michael; his son Andrew Nickerson and his wife Nicole; and his grandsons Nicholas, Brayden, Niall, Brenden, and Tanner. He is also survived by a large extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bill was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bill and his family are deeply grateful for the compassionate care he received from Concord Hospital, Concord Cardiology, and the Payson Cancer Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Church in Sanbornton, New Hampshire, with a gathering after at the Merrimack Valley Railroad Function Hall in Northfield.

Flowers are appreciated. Those who wish may also make a donation in Bill's memory to either the Payson Center for Cancer Care at Concord Hospital Trust, Office of Philanthropy, 250 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03301, or to Christian Medical Mission: Christian Medical Mission, 50A Stark Highway, North Dunbarton, NH 03046.
