William Robert Brown
William R. Brown, 83, a resident of Belmont since 1999, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 after a short illness with his family by his side. He was born in Boston, MA on March 26, 1938, the son of the late William E. and Lillian M. (Lane) Brown.
Bill was a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by Factory Mutual Insurance Company, F. M. Global in Norwood, MA.
William was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving from May 29, 1957 to May 20, 1959 earning the rank of FN.
He was a race car enthusiast and enjoyed watching racing both at local venues and on television. He loved tractors and trucks and anything to do with farming especially the animals, pigs being his favorite.
He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Stephen C. Wassmus.
His family includes his wife, Isabelle G. (Crosby) Brown of Atlantic City, NJ, his son, Bruce A. Wassmus of Mays Landing, NJ, his two favorite and most loved grandchildren, Shauna Wassmus of Scranton, PA and Brendan Wassmus of Boston. He is also survived by his two sisters, Dorothy Mackin of Chichester and Rosemary Publicover of Hingham, MA. He will be missed greatly by his daily Dunkin Donuts friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:30 AM in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
