Northfield William Henry Adams William H. Adams, 85, a lifelong resident of Northfield died, Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Franklin Regional Hospital following a period of failing health. Bill was born in Northfield, March 22, 1930, son of Theodore and Rose (Murphy) Adams. He schooled in Northfield and Tilton, graduating from high school there. In 1947 Bill enlisted in the United States Army , serving honorably for 24 years, with specialty as Auto Maintenance Tech, retiring in 1972 as a Chief Warrant Office, Third Class. He was the recipient of decorations and medals, the Army of Occupation (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, (1st OLC), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Bronze Star Medal (1st OLC) Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1st OLC), Four Overseas Bars. After serving his country, he worked at the Arwood Corporation in Northfield, retiring in 1990. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post # 49 in Northfield (serving years on the Drill Team), VFW Post # 1698 in Franklin, Franklin Lodge of Elks, BPOE, 1280 and Disabled American Veterans. He was a parishioner of St. Gabriel Parish of Tilton and Franklin. Bill was especially fond of fishing. He spent hours caring for his manicured lawns and his bountiful gardens, sharing with family and friends. Bill was always there for those who were in need of a good friend. He served area veterans with direction on benefit documents and other VA information. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Clara (Weide) Adams who died in 1998, sons, William in 1983 and Matthew in 1996, sister Kathleen Buczynski and brother, Richard J. Adams in 2013. He leaves Daughter, Brenda Adams Dubia of Northfield Sons, Paul Adams and his wife Terry and Brian Adams and his wife Nancy, all of Northfield His longtime companion, Eugenia Y. (Montambeault) Moxham of Northfield. Grand , great-grandchildren and one great, great- grandson Brothers, Neil and Norman Adams of Northfield Niece, nephews and cousins Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main Street) in Tilton. A committal service with burial will be held, with military honors Thursday, January 28�at 3:00 PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Bill's name to the charity of one's choice.
