Franklin Theresa Mary (Martel) Orpin Theresa Mary (Martel) Orpin, 89, a longtime resident of Franklin, died Monday, December 21, 2015 at Forestview Manor in Meredith following a period of failing health. She was born in Laconia, NH, December 14, 1926, daughter of Adelard and Amezali (Morin) Martel. She spent her youth and schooled in Laconia. Theresa lived in Lakeport until moving to Franklin in 1949, following her marriage. Theresa was a homemaker and over the years she was employed at the former Sulloway Mills in Franklin. She later worked for many years in housekeeping at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen. She enjoyed volunteering at the St. Paul Food Closet and for many years at the Franklin Regional Hospital. A devout Catholic, Theresa was a parishioner of St. Paul Church in Franklin. Theresa was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Elmer C. Orpin Jr. who died in 1999. Her family includes, A daughter, Susan L. Smith and her husband Richard of Richlands, NC A son, David C. Orpin and his wife Mary Sue of Nashua Two grandchildren, Jacqueline Coraine and husband Anthony and Michael Orpin and wife Joy Four great-grandchildren, Anthony and Lucas Coraine, Colin and Madelyn Orpin Her sister, Frances Guyer of Laconia Numerous Nieces and nephews Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.) in Tilton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Church of St. Gabriel Parish, School Street in Franklin. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin later in the spring. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Theresa's name to the Food Closet, St. Paul Parish, P.O. Box 490, Franklin, New Hampshire 03235.
