It is with sad hearts we say goodbye to Solange “Sally” Dorval, 89, who passed away peacefully after a full life at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, NH.
Born Solange Irene Turcotte on May 22, 1931 to Frank and Ernestine Turcotte, she resided in Manchester, NH with her parents and sisters. Sally attended Notre Dame de Lourdes Hospital School of Nursing, which led to a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse.
On February 6, 1960, Sally married Conrad Dorval, Jr., and moved to Franklin, NH where they raised their children Michael, Michele and Frank. Conrad passed away in 1997 after 37 years of marriage.
Sally was a very creative person, but was especially known for her expert skill at knitting, pouring countless hours of love and care into her work. Hats, sweaters, afghans, and baby outfits—many friends and family are blessed with her love-filled creations. She was a thoughtful and generous woman with a brilliant mind. She was a loving and dedicated wife, a giving mother, an attentive grandmother and a wonderful mother-in-law.
Sally will be remembered for her amusing sayings, sense of humor, bottomless candy dish and interest in her surroundings, family and friends. All who have had the privilege of knowing Sally will leave better for the experience. She knew how to give love and she knew how to receive it. She was a light to those around her.
Sally is survived by her three children, Michael Dorval of Phoenix, AZ and wife Evelyn Schickling; Michele Raymond of Goffstown, NH and husband David; and Frank Dorval of Oxford, ME with wife Cris.
Known as Meme’ by her five grandchildren, she is also survived by Stefanie Thompson of Manchester, NH; Amelia Raymond of Wilmington, MA; Laura Raymond of Manchester, NH; Conrad Dorval of Oxford Maine; and Lance Dorval of Oxford, ME.
Sally is predeceased by her sisters, Genevieve Carle and Carmel Turcotte, as well as her husband Conrad Dorval, Jr.
She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with her husband Conrad at Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin, NH.
