Ruth Belle (Holt) Benedict

Salisbury Ruth Belle (Holt) Benedict Ruth Belle Benedict, 90, a longtime resident of Salisbury since 1947, died Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen following a period of failing health. Ruth was born in Dummer, NH, December 2, 1923, daughter of Paul H. and Eva N. (Wentworth) Holt. She lived for a short time in Portland, ME later moving to Providence, RI. She was employed as a secretary for many years and worked at the Merrimack County Nursing Home and the State of New Hampshire, Reimbursements for Education and the New Hampshire Historical Society. She was involved with the local Grange for several years and the Historical Society in Salisbury. She enjoyed reading up until just a few years ago. She served as Town Clerk for many years and worked as an insurance agent for home and auto. She was a longtime member of the Salisbury Congregational Church. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Russell V. Benedict in 2001. Her family includes, Her daughters, Cynthia H. Lovejoy of Salisbury, Joy Stacey of York, ME and Margaret Bruns of South Portland, ME Sons, David F. Benedict of Salisbury, Stephen P. Benedict of Newport, VT and Robert Sullivan of Grantham. 17 grandchildren and a great-grandson. A Time of Remembrance will be held Saturday, May 10th at 11:00 AM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. Private burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Salisbury. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Ruth's name to the Concord VNA and Hospice, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, NH 03301.
