Northfield Ronald Willard Thompson Ronald W. Thompson, 75, of Northfield since 1974, formerly of Taunton, MA, died Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, MA following a period of failing health. He was born in�Roxbury, MA, January 23, 1941,�son of Willard and Florence (Tetraulte) Thompson. He served with the U. S. Navy from 1959 to 1963 and served on the USS Neosho, discharged with the rank of SN (E-3). Ron was employed for many years as a machinist with the former Tilton Leather Shop, Raytheon in Dighton, MA and retired from Vutek in Meredith. Known and recognized with his Kilt and mace, Ron served as a Drum Major throughout New England, the�United States and Canada for over 22 years. He was involved with the Bektash Band and Highland Games. As a Mason,�Ron was a longtime member of the Doric Centre Lodge # 20 in Tilton. He found great joy sitting at his window at home watching the hummingbirds at his feeders. He and his wife spent many happy times at the Senior Center in Tilton. Ron had recently purchased a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air and was critical about its restoration. His family includes, his wife of 52 years, Alice G. (Roy) Thompson of Northfield, daughters, Wendy C. Brennan and her husband Scott of Easton, MA, Cheryl L. Thompson and significant other, Nick Maynes of Claremont; grandchildren, Erik and Kevin Kenneson, Kiley Thompson and her fiance Tim Derby, and Sean Brennan; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brooklynn and�Ainsley Kenneson, and soon to be, Baby Alice; brother, Joseph Thompson and his significant other, Diane of Brooksville, FL and half brother, Mark Thompson of Michigan. Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.) in Tilton. A service with military honors will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date when family is able to gather.
