With saddened hearts, our Robert Paul Abbott formally of Portsmouth New Hampshire, passed away at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton after a long illness on August 3, 2026.

Robert was born in Portsmouth in 1941 to his parents Mr. Elmer Abbott & Mrs. Lillian Abbott.

Bob or the Hobbit as his family loving called him, attended Portsmouth public schools. He served in the United States Army achieving a "sharpshooting with a rifle" decoration. A longtime employee of Market Basket, Bob enjoyed his loyal customers, he always put his customers first. Bob loved his New England sports teams and through the years had attended many home games. He took great pride in the appearance of his home and yard. Bob was married to Mrs. Peggy Ford in 1978, with her 3 sons Richard, Paul and Stephen Ford, participating in the ceremony. Bob was hardworking and a true friend with a big smile for all of us. Bob will be missed in our lives. Bob leaves behind his wife Peggy, sister Judy, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. May the Lord bless Bob as we have been blessed by Bob's presence.
