Dunbarton Richard T. Playdon Richard T. Playdon, 80, a longtime resident of Dunbarton died peacefully, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the CRVNA Hospice House in Concord following a period of failing health. Members of his family were at his side. He was born in Lawrence, MA, April 7, 1933, son of Leon H. and Helen A. (Kent) Playdon. He spent his youth in Salem, NH with his 5 brothers and 3 sisters and graduated from SalemHigh School. His father Leon was a veteran of WWI, and Richard and his brothers all followed his example by serving in the U.S. military. Richard served with the U. S. Air Force from 1953 until 1956 as a Nuclear Specialist, discharged with the rank of S/Sgt (T). He then enrolled at the University of New Hampshire, graduating with a B.S. in Physics. While at UNH, he met Estelle Leclerc, whom he married on September 22, 1968, at which time they moved to Dunbarton. Prior to his retirement, Richard worked for over 30 years as a Lab Scientist in the State of NH Department of Environmental Services in Concord. He was often found involved with his great interest in electronics. Richard enjoyed ping pong, bicycling, gardening and bird watching. He was a longtime, faithful member of the Worldwide Church of God for over 30 years. As a proud grandfather, Richard enjoyed the time spent with his 4 year old granddaughter. In addition to his wife, Estelle, he leaves behind, his son, Paul Playdon and his wife, Kirsten�and their daughter, Lily of Rochester, NH his daughter,�Jennifer Cormier and her husband Maurice of Millville, MA Brother, Harry Playdon of Derry, NH Sister, Melodie Playdon of Londonderry, NH A calling hour will be held Wednesday, March 12th from 10:00 to 11:00 A. M. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. A service will follow at 11:00. Arrangements for honors and burial at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery are planned for 2:00 P. M.
