Franklin Richard R. Paulhus Richard R. Paulhus, 84 years young, a resident of Franklin since 1960 was born in Rhode Island to Raoul and Germaine Paulhus. He graduated from Mount Saint Charles Academy, where he excelled in football and baseball as a starting halfback and outfielder. Following graduation he entered the army and served from October 1951 until being honorably discharged on October 14, 1953, the day he met his future wife, Joan. They married on September 3, 1955 in a marriage that lasted over 60 years. Richard attended Boston University and the University of Connecticut, completing his studies in the School of Pharmacy in 1957. He began his career as a pharmacist in Franklin, NH and officially opened �Paulhus Pharmacy� on September 11, 1961. This was the start of a successful 32 year business and also memorable as the day of his third daughter's, (Dawne Marie�s) birth. Richard, originally opened Paulhus Pharmacy in West Franklin and later moved to a larger facility on Upper Central St where he and wife Joan operated the pharmacy, and added �Joan's Gift Shop�. In 1993 Richard sold his business to Hannaford�s and worked as their head Pharmacist for 6 years, retiring at age 72. In the 1960's and 70's Richard served both on Franklin City Council and Board of Education. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Franklin Lodge of Elks, and the UCONN alumni association as well as other fraternal organizations. Richard is predeceased by his parents, sister Terry and brother Donald. He is survived by his wife Joan, and daughter, Nancy Paulhus-Orkin and her husband Glenn Orkin of West Hartford, Ct, daughter, Dr. Cheryl Paulhus and her fianc� Richard Shaw of Temple, TX, daughter, Dawne Paulhus and her husband Andrew Adil of Wethersfield, Ct , and his son Richard P. Paulhus and his wife Stephanie of Northfield, NH. He is also survived by Grandchildren, Burt W Cook, III, Dr. Sarah Orkin and her spouse Dr. Sarah Deloizaga, Eli Orkin, Dr. Montana Paulhus, Elizabeth Stoughton, Savannah Paulhus, Julia Stoughton, Sierra Paulhus, George Stoughton, Spencer and Austin Adil and great-granddaughter Halen Lynn Cook. At the family's request, services and burial will be private at the NH Veteran's cemetery with military honors. He enters this new chapter with the satisfaction that his life was productive and he leaves his family and dear friends who will make their own mark on the landscape of life. He fought hard against the cancer and heart disease that finally took his life. �I go with peace in my heart and the knowledge that I did more good than bad... Until we meet again.� Richard R. Paulhus
