With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Allen Nilsen, a cherished father, innovator, and friend, who departed this world on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, at the age of 62. Born in Concord, NH on Friday, November 24th, 1961, Richard lived a life full of passion, creativity, and kindness, ultimately making Franklin, NH his home.
Richard found his calling as a Manufacturing Engineer at Heat and Control Inc., where his curiosity and ingenuity flourished. He was a proud member of Granite State Off Road, an organization that combined his love for adventure with his passion for vehicles. Known for his skillful tinkering and his ability to craft beautiful and practical items out of stainless steel, Richard's talent and enthusiasm have left an indelible mark on those who knew him. He enjoyed watching movies, camping, off-roading and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a beloved husband for 38 years to Kris (Goodwin) Nilsen, he also leaves his daughter Arika and her husband Collin Dunn, and his brother-in-law, Webb L. Goodwin and his life partner, Cathy Emerson and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Nilsen and Elizabeth Nilsen, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
Friends, family, and all whose lives Richard touched are invited to honor his memory at the Smart Memorial Home, 584 West Main St. in Tilton, NH, where a visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. It will be a time to share stories, memories, and celebrate a life well-lived. On Saturday, December 14, 2024 there will be a celebration of his life at Kris's home, 25 Lawndale Ave., Franklin, NH beginning at 11:00 AM.
