Richard A. Belair, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on Saturday, July 12th, 1952, in Laconia, New Hampshire, Richard was a long-time resident of the Lakes Region where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
Richard spent his career as a talented commercial and residential builder, eventually becoming self-employed. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work left a lasting impression on the numerous projects he completed throughout his life. Before establishing his successful business, Richard honed his skills working with Synder Construction and Milestone Construction.
A man of varied interests, Richard was an avid bicyclist who found joy in the freedom of the open road. He had a passion for working on old cars and relished the satisfaction of bringing them back to life. Richard also loved spending time in the great outdoors, enjoying activities such as camping, hiking, and traveling to explore new places. A dedicated reader, he appreciated the escapism and knowledge that books provided.
Richard is deeply missed by his devoted wife, whom he has been together with for more than 30 years, Toni E. (Sullivan) Belair; his son Allan Belair and daughter-in-law Tasha, alongside their daughter, Emma, his cherished daughter, Candi Garvin, and son-in-law Shaun and their children Kyle, Connor, and Matthew Garvin. He also leaves behind his stepson, Michael Jerome, his loving sister, Theresa Strickland, and brother-in-law, David Strickland, along with many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their uncle.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Eleanor A. (Perkins) Belair, whose memory he cherished and honored throughout his life.
The Belair family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects at a visitation held in Richard's honor at the Smart Memorial Home, 584 West Main St., Tilton, NH, on Thursday, December 18th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, an organization close to Richard's heart.
Richard will be remembered for his warm smile, his steadfast work ethic, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to guide them through life’s journey.
