Raymond Dennison Hunter Jr.
Raymond D. Hunter Jr., 83, a resident of the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton died Friday, February 21, 2020 following a period of failing health. Mr. Hunter had been a resident there for over 2 years. He was born in Framingham, MA, July 23, 1936, to the late, Raymond D. Hunter Sr. and Ruth (Harrington) Hunter. He grew up in Westborough, MA. Ray lived in Warner for 12 years, moving there from Bradford. He enlisted in the U. S. Army, from 1953 until 1956, serving in Germany during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge as a Corporal, he became an automobile mechanic, specializing in VW Bugs. He worked for the first Volkswagen Bug shop in Massachusetts. Ray served as Police Chief for the Town of South Sutton, NH, at that time he raised German Shepherds and Bloodhounds.
He leaves his wife Pauline (Woodbury) Hunter of Boscawen
Sons, Rob Hunter of Canterbury, Scott Hunter of Holland, MA and Christopher Hunter of Worcester, MA.
Daughters, Susan Cullum of CA and Wendy Irving of Worchester, MA. 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His sister, Linda Robinson of Westborough, MA
There are no calling hours. A committal, with military honors will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
