Randy W. Barclay Sr.
Randy W. Barclay Sr., 73, a longtime resident of Northfield, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Concord Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Fort Fairfield, ME on April 11, 1950 the son of the late Garnet and Annie (LaPointe) Barclay.
Randy attended the William and Sweeney School prior to enlisting with the U.S. Army on July 8, 1970. He faithfully served in Vietnam until his discharge on January 13, 1972 with the rank of SP4. He worked for National Propane and Homegas for 15 years, then for Hannaford’s Grocery Store for many years.
Randy loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved farming, enjoyed his goats and chickens, gardening and watching the deer. He was a gentle and loving man with a generous heart.
He was predeceased by his parents, his four brothers; Ralph, Gilbert, Arnold and Ronnie and three of his sisters; Janet, Joanne and Barbara.
His family includes his wife of 38 years; Sharon (Young) Barclay of Northfield and their three children; Blake Barclay of Northfield and Jeremiah Barclay and Randy Barclay Jr. both of CT. He is also survived by numerous grand and great grandchildren and his four sisters; Lavinia Burgess of Clearwater, FL, Elenore Owens of GA, Carolyn Roman of Norwich, CT and Pat Hansen of Norwich, CT.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Smart Memorial Home, 584 West Main St., Tilton. A celebration of Randy’s life will follow at 5:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later with military honors at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
