Canterbury Norma H. Glines Norma H. Glines, 96, a long time resident and Boston Post Cane holder of Canterbury died November 30, 2015 after a short illness. Norma was born on May 2, 1919 in Sheepshead Bay, Long Island, NY the daughter of Peter James and Emily (Huuve) Hassell. She grew up and was educated in Ozone Park, NY. She married Raymond Glines of Canterbury in 1947 and moved to the farm in Canterbury. She was involved in the Canterbury Church as a Sunday School Teacher and member in the church associations. Norma was a long time 4-H leader, teaching sewing for the Canterbury Belles 4-H Club. For over 40 years the Canterbury Extension Ladies Group enjoyed many chicken barbecues hosted by Norma at the Glines Farm. She enjoyed trips back to New York City visiting her family and shopping. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond in 1994, her parents, her sister Emily Near, her brothers Peter, Gerald and George Hassell, and her daughter-in-law, Susan Glines. Norma was a homemaker and mother of three; her sons, Leroy (Jayne Hastings) and George Glines, and her daughter, Kathleen Dole (Sumner) and daughter-in-law, Emily Glines all of Canterbury. A very proud grandmother to Abigail Glines (Zack Booth), Stephen Glines (Meghan), Kate Mason (Jacob), Peter Glines, Eric Glines (Fiina), Rebecca Yohe (Kevin), Kathleen Dole and Molly Dole; great-grandmother to Bronson and Emerson Glines, Anna Mason and Elisabeth Yohe and Wyatt Booth. As per Norma's wishes there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Canterbury United Community Church in Canterbury. Burial will follow for the family in Maple Grove Cemetery in Canterbury. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Norma's name to the Canterbury United Community Church at P.O. Box 216, Canterbury, NH 03224-0274.
