Northfield Milton Edward Ayotte Milton E. Ayotte, 79, a resident of Northfield died Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Concord Hospital in Concord following a period of failing health. Milton was born in Concord, October 28, 1934, son of the late, Ludger and Ida (Miller) Ayotte. He had been a resident of Northfield for most of his life. He was self employed as an automobile mechanic for many years. A railroad enthusiast, Milton was known locally as the "man in the railroad cap". Milton served as fire warden with the Tilton-Northfield Fire Department and was the department mechanic for several years. He was a member of the VFW Post #1698 in Franklin and American Legion Post # 49 in Northfield. He enjoyed spending time in his red Pontiac Firebird and riding his numerous motorcycles over the years. He looked forward to his north country trips to the stock car races. An antique auto buff, Milton enjoyed going to old car shows. He served honorably from 1952 to 1955 in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Although a quiet man, Milton enjoyed spending time with family and close friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine V. Moulton. He leaves a sister, Patricia A. Adams of Northfield, nieces and nephews. According to his wishes, there are no calling hours or services planned. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton. Honors will be offered for Milton's service to his country Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:30 A. M. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemeter, 110 D. W. Highway in Boscawen, NH. Burial will follow. Contributions may be made in Milton's name to the charity of one's choice.
