Biography Franklin Mary Anna (Benson) Hodgman Mary A. Hodgman, 82, a lifelong resident of Franklin passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia following a period of failing health. Mary was born in Franklin, April 5, 1931, daughter of the late Harold and Lida (Russ) Benson. She was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mary was a homemaker. She was a longtime active member of the Congregational Christian Church, UCC in Franklin, serving with the Women's Fellowship. She also served as financial secretary at the church for many years. She was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Hodgman in 1976 and by her husband Bernard C. Hodgman in 1990. Her family includes, Her daughter: Debbie Gardner of Danbury Her grandson: Jesse and his wife Kathryn Gardner of Henniker Brother: Ervin Benson of Wells, ME and Palmetto, FL Sisters: Muriel LaValley of Concord Helen Boudreau of Laconia Martha Carkin of Laconia Numerous nieces and nephews According to Mary's wishes, there are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held for her family at Franklin Cemetery with burial following. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton.
