Franklin Marjorie Augusta (Caswell) Dunlap Marjorie A. (Caswell) Dunlap, 101, died Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen following a short period of failing health. She resided in Campton for over 26 years, moving with her late husband to Franklin in 1996 to be closer to their daughter Barbara. She was born in Attleboro, MA, September 1, 1914, first child and daughter of Ira and Essie (Brooks) Caswell. She had two other siblings, Annie and Ethel. When Marge was 3 1/2, her father passed away. Her mother worked hard to keep the family together. He mother later remarried, Charlie Dunlap and they had a son William. The family survived WW II when Charlie served in the Navy. Rationing, coupons, etc were part of daily life. She spent her youth and schooled in Attleboro. She was employed for several years as a clerk in a jewelry store in Attleboro and later worked with her husband Charles at the Winsor Restaurant, a family owned business, in Holderness, NH. Marjorie was a longtime member of the Holderness Community Church, serving as a deaconess for over 20 years and former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Mt. Hope Chapter # 5 in Ashland and Bethlehem Chapter # 12 in Plymouth. She enjoyed traveling with family, flying to Germany with her daughter Barbara to visit her grandson, going to Denmark, Amsterdam and several places in Germany during their two week trip. Marjorie especially enjoy her trips to Maine, visiting a favorite, Nubble Light, trips to, Florida, North Carolina, cross country to Nevada (to see her son Jerry) , San Francisco and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge and coming back to the Grand Canyon. She enjoyed nature, her annual foliage trip to the White Mountains, and trip by both car and Cog Railway to Mount Washington. She enjoyed a full life with family and friends and was truly a precious treasure. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Charles Winsor Dunlap who died in 1999, a step brother, William Jennings and sisters, Ann Cummings and Ethel Monahan. She leaves, Her daughters, Barbara D. Farnum of Ashland, Ellie J. Clay of Plymouth and her son, Gerald C. Dunlap of Pahrump, NV. 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, 5 great,great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. Nieces, Nephews and grand Nieces and Nephews. Respecting Marjorie's wishes, calling hours will not be held. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Holderness Communty Church in Holderness. A graveside service,�with burial following will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM in Meredith Village Cemetery in Meredith. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Marjorie's name to "The Resident Fund", Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 D. W. Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303 or to the Holderness Community Church, P. O. Box 613, Holderness, NH 03245.
