�Franklin Madeline "Mandy" H. (Halpin) Pickess Madeline "Mandy" H. Pickness, 95, a longtime resident of Franklin died Sunday, July 5, 2015 following a period of failing health. Mandy was born in Berlin, NH, July 9, 1919, daughter of John and Sophie (Milinski) Halpin. She resided in Lunenburg, VT before moving to Franklin in 1941. She was married to her husband Bert, October 12, 1947. A school teacher for many years, she taught Business Education for the Franklin School District for 15 years and the Belmont School District for 8 years. Mandy especially enjoyed the game of golf and was a member of the Mojalaki Country Club in Franklin and Den Brae Golf Club in Sanbornton. She was a life member of the New Hampshire State Women's Golf Association. Mandy was a 50 year volunteer at the Franklin Regional Hospital. She also had a great fondness for animals and supported shelters which cared for them. Mandy was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Norman Halpin. She leaves her husband of 67 years, Bertram J. Pickess of Franklin. She also leaves her brother, Glenn Halpin of Lunenburg, Vermont and two nieces. According to Mandy's wishes, there are no calling hours or public services planned. Private burial was held yesterday in Franklin Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Mandy's name to the, Franklin Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 265, Franklin, NH 03235-0265
