Laconia Lillian Marie (Dumond)Porter- Hoover Lillian M. Porter-Hoover, 86, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Laconia. Lillian had been a resident there for nine years. She was born in Millinocket, Maine, November 18, 1927, daughter of Charles and Bernice (Levesque) Dumond. Lillian grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School, class of 1945. She was employed for many years as an operator with New England Telephone and AT&T, retiring after 28 years. She and her first husband, Earl Porter owned the "Top O' Town" bowling lanes on Memorial Street in Franklin during the 50's, later building a new location on upper Central Street in the 60's. She had lived in Bedford for a time before moving to Arizona where she resided from 1970 to 2004. She moved back to New Hampshire from Glendale, Arizona and lived for a time at The Golden Crest in Franklin before moving to Laconia. While living in Franklin she was a parishioner of St. Paul Church and active with Catholic Daughters of the Americas, later an active parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glendale. Lillian was predeceased by her first husband, Earl Porter who died in 1978 her second husband, Herbert Hoover who died in 2003 and siblings, Elsie Ouellette, Richard Dumond, Irene Wescott, Theresa Beaupre, Lucille MacDonald, Eugene Dumond, Roger Dumond and Billy Dumond. Her family includes, Sons: Mark Porter and his wife Susan of Sanbornton John Porter of Liberty, NY Granddaughter: Amanda Rotonnelli and her husband David of Sanbornton Great-granddaughter: Kelsey Rotonnelli of Sanbornton Sisters Winnifred Moore of Londonderry Bernice Verrilli of Milford, CT Carol Dumond of Laconia Christina Rossi of Fayettville, GA Numerous nieces and nephews Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M., Thursday, October 2nd at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home (584 West Main St.) in Tilton. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated Friday, October 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Church of St. Gabriel Parish in Franklin. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Lillian's name to the Activities Fund, St. Francis Home, 406 Court St., Laconia, NH 03246.
