Northfield--Joyce M. Schmidt, 76, a lifelong resident of Northfield, New Hampshire passed away peacefully at her home with loving family by her side on October 14, 2023.
Joyce was born in Franklin, New Hampshire in the fall of 1947, the youngest daughter of Levi and Mabel Gilbert.
During her school years, Joyce excelled in academics along with enjoying her love of playing basketball and softball. She was awarded the school’s first time ever women’s most valuable basketball player trophy.
After graduating with honors from Tilton-Northfield High School in 1965, Joyce’s path took her to Beede Electric in Penacook, New Hampshire before transitioning to a new career path at Webster Valve (Watts) in Franklin, New Hampshire where she was employed for over 38 years until her retirement in 2013.
During retirement Joyce enjoyed spending countless hours with her daughter, son, family and friends making cherished lifelong memories. Joyce dearly loved her cats and enjoyed countless hours watching her whitetail deer and turkeys that would come and visit with her daily.
Joyce is survived by her beloved children; her daughter Lisa Jordan, her son-in-law Kevin Jordan and her son Edward Schmidt and his partner Diavontay Elliott. All of whom will miss her dearly every day and thank her for all that she has done to make our lives better and fulfilled. She was a wonderful mom and will be forever in our hearts.
A graveside service celebrating Joyce’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, commencing at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Cemetery, Sanborn Road, Tilton, New Hampshire, where she will be buried alongside her parents, Levi and Mabel.
Joyce’s Family is extremely grateful to the Franklin VNA and Hospice Staff for all of their kindness, compassion and support.
