Tilton Joseph Raymond Lavertu Joseph R. Lavertu, 85, a resident of Tilton died suddenly, Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Franklin Regional Hospital after becoming ill at his home. Joe was born in Franklin, June 5, 1932, son of John and Alma (Barron) Lavertu. He and his wife lived in Franklin for many years before moving to Sanbornton where they resided for 15 years. He and his wife moved to their Tilton address where they resided until his death. He was employed for many years at the former J. P. Stevens Woolen Mill in Franklin until its closure. A general fixer, he maintained factory machinery and later was employed with Cressona Aluminum and Alcan Aluminum Extrusions in Franklin and Berger-Patterson in Laconia. Joe served for several years with the New Hampshire National Guard in Franklin. He enjoyed spending time with his family, driving the roads in New England and walking with his wife. He had a great fondness for animals, especially dogs. He leaves, His wife of 65 years, Gloria C. (Gerlarneau) Lavertu of Tilton His brother, John Lavertu and family of Franklin Numerous nieces and nephews Following Joe's wishes, there are no calling hours. Committal prayers will be offered at a graveside service, Friday at 2:00 P. M. at the family lot in Park Cemetery in Tilton. Assisting with arrangements is the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Joe's name to the New Hampshire Humane Society, P. O. Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247-0572.
