John F. Marrapese

Franklin John F. Marrapese John F. Marrapese, a longtime resident of Franklin, died October 6, 2014 at Franklin Regional Hospital. He was 86. John was born in Worcester, MA, on August 23, 1928, the son of Doris Trombley and Albert Marrapese. Prior to moving his family to Franklin in 1961 he resided in Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine. He spent his youth in Jaffrey, N.H. and was a graduate of Conant High School. He was a 1956 graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in business. John was employed in sales for the National Cash Register Company for over 35 years and prior to his retirement, worked with Capitol Cash Register in Concord. John was a Mason and longtime member of the Meridian Lodge # 60, F & A.M. in Franklin and served as treasurer for over 20 years. He was one of the founders of the Webster Lake Association in Franklin. John was passionate about the preservation of the lake and he and his family enjoyed many wonderful years together there. Over the years, John enjoyed hiking and hunting. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1947 until 1951, spending time aboard the USS Manchester while serving his country during the Korean War, with the rank of Disbursing Clerk Petty Officer, 2nd Class (DK2T). He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Pamela Ann (Horne) Marrapese who died in 2003 and his daughter, Tracy A. Tramontano of Gilford, who died in 2013. He leaves his daughter, Nancy L. Marrapese-Burrell and her husband Jeff Burrell of Quincy, MA, his son, John J. Marrapese and his wife Martha (Pellegrini) Marrapese of McLean, VA, and grandsons, Cameron Charles and John Colin Marrapese of McLean, VA. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.) in Tilton. A Masonic Service will follow at 2:00 p.m.. in the Memorial Home. A Masonic committal service, with honors, will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 D. W. Highway in Boscawen. John will be interred there with his wife Pam and daughter Tracy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Pamela Marrapese Keep NH Lakes Clear Scholarship Fund, Plymouth State University, Office of University Advancement, MSC#50, Plymouth NH 03264.
