Joel Carlton Ellis
Joel C. Ellis, 65, a lifetime resident of Sanbornton, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen following a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s. He was born in Laconia on April 1, 1958 the son of Carl A. Ellis Jr. and Pauline (Auger) Ellis.
Joel was employed for the Town of Sanbornton Highway Department for 16 years before moving on to work for Lucas Tree and Daniels Well prior to retiring due to illness.
He loved to snowmobile and was a member of the Mohawk Trail Riders Snowmobile Club in Sanbornton, he also enjoyed hiking and kayaking. He also took care of many rescue dogs over the years and was a former member of St. Gabriel Parish of St. Paul Church in Franklin.
He was predeceased by his father. His family includes his wife; Karen A. (Maloney) Ellis of Londonderry, his two sons; Joel Ellis of NH and Nathan Ellis and his wife Kristen of Pembroke, his grandson; Bryson Ellis of Pembroke, two stepson’s; Michael Fullerton of Londonderry and Adam Leduc of Dracut, MA and his mother; Pauline (Auger) Ellis of Sanbornton. He is also survived by his sisters; Marie Hemeon and her husband William “Bill” of Franklin, Juliana Lonergan and her husband David of Sanbornton, Alicia Keigwin of Sanbornton and Andrea “Kim” Ellis of Gilmanton, his two brothers; Daniel Ellis and his partner Robert Bushman of Concord and William Ellis and his wife Bonnie of Sanbornton, his several nieces and nephews including Kendra Lonergan and Mackenzie Caveney both of Tilton.
According to Joel’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Smart Memorial Home, 584 West Main St., Tilton, NH.
