Joan Marie Sheehan, a beloved teacher and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on Wednesday, September 2nd, 1942, in Franklin, New Hampshire.
Educated and passionate, Joan devoted her career to nurturing young minds starting her teaching career in Maine continuing in Franklin and ending her career at Plymouth Elementary School. Her love for teaching was renowned among her colleagues and students, and she spent many joyful years actively participating in school activities.
A woman of many interests, Joan found joy in cross stitching and treasured her time at the family lake house in Pittsburg during the summer months. Her summers were often shared with loved ones, filled with laughter, warmth, and the beauty of New Hampshire summers.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved parents, George H. Rivard and Leontine M. (Zelia) Rivard, and her dear spouse, Thomas W. Sheehan. She is survived by her devoted son, Matthew Sheehan, her loving sister, Gloria Crosby, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
A graveside service will be held to celebrate Joan’s life at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery for her Family and close friends.
Joan will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her students, the love she had for her family, and the simple joys she found in life. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
