Northfield Jean Shirley (Read) Collins Jean S. Collins, 84, a longtime resident of Northfield died Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia following a short period of failing health. She was born in Northfield, June 26, 1931, daughter of Daniel C. and Eva (Dearborn) Read. She attended local schools in Northfield and Tilton. For many years she worked as a stitcher with local factories in Northfield, Franklin and Laconia. She also sewed for family and friends and worked for a time at the local Ben Franklin Store in Tilton. Jean was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post # 1698 in Franklin. She worked with the local senior companion program through the Franklin VNA and Hospice which she found very rewarding. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Jean was an active member of the Tilton-Northfield United Methodist Church in Tilton. She was predeceased by her first husband, Theodore Beaupre who died in 1971 and her second husband, Walter Collins Sr. who died in 1999. Her family includes, Her daughter, Donna Lee (Beaupre) Main and her husband Roger of Tilton. Sons, Walter Collins Jr. and his wife, Kay of Franklin, James Collins of Franklin and his late wife, Teresa and Ronald Collins and his wife Nancy of Franklin. 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Shawn Main and Laura, Shanen Main and Renee, Lisa Collins and John, Shirley Brorby and Ray , Bruce Collins and Jessica, James Collins Jr. and Karen, Lynn Laflamme and Marc, Christine Zaimes and Ben, Ronald Collins and Stephanie and Kimber Collins. 15 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Colin, Gavin, Nicole, Mellissa, Brandon, Justin, Amber, Trey, Hyden, Ben, Ava, Brielle, Aubrey and Luke. 2 great, great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jordon Jean also leaves her good friend, Dell, numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. According to Jean�s wishes, no calling hours are planned. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Tilton-Northfield United Methodist Church, 400 West Main St. in Tilton. Spring burial will be in Park Cemetery in Tilton. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton.
