Franklin James L. Lambert Sr. MSgt, US Army Retired James Lee Lambert Sr., 79, a resident of Franklin, died at his home following a period of failing health, January 6, 2015. He was born in St. Louis, MO, July 23, 1935, son of the late James W. and Alberta O. (Eddington) Lambert. He spent his youth and schooled in Fayetteville, NC and graduated from Fayetteville Tech with an Associates Degree. He moved from the Villages in Florida to Tilton in 2000. He was a Mason and member of the Masonic Lodge in Hope Mill, NC. Jim enlisted in the U. S. Army, March 5, 1953 in St. Louis and retired as a Master Sergeant, February 28, 1974 at Ft. Bragg, NC after serving honorably for 21 years. He served a tour in Korea, two tours in Vietnam and three tours in Germany. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Army Occupational Medal (Germany) Good Conduct Medal (2nd and 5th awards), National Defense Service Medal w/OLC, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Expert Badge Rifle M-14 and Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Star. Jim enjoyed fishing and growing vegetables in his garden. He was predeceased by his parents, his previous wife, Martha Lambert, a brother, Leonard and sister, Glenda. He leaves his wife Barbara (Dube) Warren-Lambert of Franklin, sons, James L. Lambert Jr and his wife Maude of Hamilton, Ohio, and Carl Lambert of Fayetteville, NC. Daughters, Debra Lamere of Tilton, Cynthia Azilone of Taguay Marina, NC and Tina Jackson of Hope Mills, NC. Two step daughters, Cathi Cook of Belmont and Susan Marcoux of Concord. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road, Tilton. Jim will be buried with military honors in the family lot at Lafayette Cemetery Park in Fayetteville, NC. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton, NH.
