It is with both heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we celebrate the life of George W. Sleeper, who passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on March 13, 1944, in Franklin, George was a beloved brother, veteran, and friend to many.

George's early life was characterized by a spirit of service and dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge. For his bravery and commitment, he was awarded the Bronze Star, a testament to his valor and dedication.

After returning home, George devoted his professional life to serving others. He held a distinguished career in maintenance within the healthcare sector at the NH Veterans Home, where he was known for his compassionate care and commitment to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for veterans. His previous work at Atlantic Laminates in Franklin and Polyclad showcased his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. He also held a real estate license, reflecting his diverse interests and talents.

Beyond his professional endeavors, George was deeply involved in his community. He was a former member of the Tilton-Northfield Volunteer Fire Department on Engine 2, where he contributed his time and skills to protect and serve. He was a life member of the Franklin VFW and the Franklin Elks, and a longstanding member of the American Legion Post 49, where he took great pride in being part of the drill team.

George is survived by his loving brother, Andrew Sleeper and his wife Desirea, and several nieces and nephews, including Nicholas Sleeper.

George was predeceased by his wife; Nancy L. (Scott) Sleeper, his son; Scott Sleeper, his parents; Joseph N. and Isabelle (Robert) Sleeper and his siblings; Joseph R. Sleeper, Richard D. Sleeper, Rose-Marie Valliere, Barbara Veator and John B. Sleeper.

A celebration of George's remarkable life will take place on Tuesday July 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to attend to honor and remember the extraordinary man he was.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Franklin VNA and Hospice, an organization that reflects George's passion for service.
