George Vangilder Shirley

George VanGilder Shirley, 79 born May 23, 1945, died suddenly at home on Friday January 03, 2025. George was a longtime resident of Franklin NH. He is predeceased by his father George Crocket Shirley and his mother Jean VanGilder Shirley. He is survived by his wife of 55 yeas Janet (Livingstone) Shirley, his son Stefan Livingstone Shirley and wife Kristin Marie of Dudley MA., his brother William Scott Shirley of Shippensburg PA, aunt Eda (Shirley) Gainesville FL, cousins Shirley Highfield of West Yarmouth MA., and Joan Metcalf-Linsay of Gainesville FL. George graduated from Ridgewood High School in New Jersey in 1963. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Enterprise during its first combat cruise. George had many interests. He worked as a ski instructor for 20 years and on the ski patrol at Gunstock. He was also active in Biathlon and local athletic charity events benefiting veterans.
