Franklin George L. O'Donnell IV George L. O'Donnell IV, 69, a longtime resident of Franklin died at his home, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 with his wife at his side following a period of declining health. George was born in Malden, MA, January 17, 1945, son of George L. O'Donnell III and Alberta (Demitroff) O'Donnell. George spent his youth and schooled in Melrose. He moved to Franklin from Wakefield, MA thirty two years ago. He worked as a chef and cook and owned the former High Noon Cafe in Franklin and was also employed at Dunkin Donuts for several years. He was a longtime member of the VFW in Melrose, Franklin Lodge of Elks, #1280 BPOE, serving as trustee, former member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Timon Council of Franklin, and was a former member of the Franklin Order of Moose. He was a diehard New England sports fan. George served with the U. S. Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. He was predeceased by his father and brother, Paul O'Donnell. He leaves his mother, Alberta (Demitroff) O'Donnell of Melrose, his wife of 33 years, Donna R. (Tennant) O'Donnell of Franklin, sons, George O'Donnell V of Maryland, Michael O'Donnell of Massachusetts, Scott O'Donnell of Alexandria, VA and Jon Hewitt of Nashua. Three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, brothers, John O'Donnell and Richard O'Donnell of Melrose and Neil O'Donnell of Northfield. A sister, Helen Cargill of Malden, MA. Nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 9:00 to 11:00 A. M. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.) in Tilton. An Elks service will be held at 10:30 A. M. Following will be a luncheon and celebration of George's life at the Franklin Lodge Of Elks, 192 Central St., in Franklin. Burial will be private for family. Contributions in George's name may be made to, Franklin VNA and Hospice, 75 Chestnut St., Franklin, NH�03235.
