Estelle (Leclerc) Playdon

Estelle (Leclerc) Playdon, 83, a longtime resident of Dunbarton, died Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Concord Hospital after a short illness.

She was born July 31, 1936 in Berlin, NH, the daughter of Louis and Imelda (Dupuis) Leclerc. She graduated from Notre Dame High School, class of 1954. She received her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from UNH, Durham in 1959 and her master’s degree in Mathematics from Union College in Schenectady, NY while working at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) in Niskayuna. In her younger days she loved roller skating, swimming, and piloting planes, especially gliders. While at UNH she met her husband of 45 years, Richard, who predeceased her. She was a longtime, faithful member of the Christian Biblical Church of God. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and by a brother, Norman Leclerc.

She is survived by her son, Paul Playdon, and his wife, Kirsten, of Rochester, NH; her daughter, Jennifer Cormier, and her husband, Maurice, of Dunbarton, NH; her grandchildren, Lily and Andrew Playdon; as well as her brother Paul Leclerc and his wife Theresa of Berlin, NH and many nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held Thursday, September 19 from 10 to 11 A.M. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, 584 West Main Street in Tilton. A service will follow at 11. Committal prayers will be held at 1 P.M. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
