Tilton Erwin "John" O'Leary E. "John" O'Leary, 76, a resident of Tilton since 1979 died at his home in Tilton, Thursday, July 10, 2014 following a short period of failing health. He passed peacefully with his family at his side. John was born in Franklin, April 16, 1938, son of Erwin H. and Mary (Black) O'Leary. He spent his youth in Tilton and attended Tilton Schools. He lived in Laconia for 20 years before moving back to Tilton. He was employed during his younger years at the former Leather Shop in Tilton, later for years at the Arwood Corporation as a cutoff person in the Arwood Foundry in Northfield. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Over the years, he enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, camping and time spent on his pontoon boats during the summer. In recent years he enjoyed camping at Wells, ME. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, John O'Leary and brothers, Robert, Daniel and Russell O'Leary. His family includes, His wife of 55 years, Claudette R. (Parent) O'Leary of Tilton, son, Jim O'Leary and his wife, Paula of Belmont, daughters, Tina Bean and husband Douglas of Sanbornton and Debra Waterman and husband Joseph of Belmont. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.) in Tilton. A private burial for his family will be in St. John Cemetery in Tilton.
