Elaine D. (Wescott) Pouliot

Franklin Elaine D. (Wescott) Pouliot Elaine Pouliot, 88, passed away December 21, 2014 at her home in Stuart, FL. She died in her home with her loving family present after a long illness. Elaine was born in Franklin, NH on December 18, 1926 to Ray and Amanda (Sylvestre) Wescott. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gloria Boardman of Clifton, NJ, and her brother, Ronald Wescott of Franklin. She is survived by her husband of 68 years August (Gus) Pouliot of Stuart, FL, her daughter Joan Beshong of Stuart, FL, her son James Pouliot of Alamo, CA, five granddaughters, Danielle Beshong of Alameda, CA, Adrienne Pedroso of Miami, FL, Elizabeth Lawrence of Miami, FL, Christine Pouliot of San Francisco, CA and Jordan Pouliot of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by 4 great granddaughters and one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Elaine graduated from Franklin High School in 1944 and attended Concord Commercial College. In 1946, following WWII, she married her high school sweetheart. Elaine worked in the office of Franklin Wholesale Distributors/Giles Dairy of Franklin and Franklin Savings Bank, where she became Vice President of Human Resources before she retired January 1, 1989. Elaine had the distinction of being the first woman heart bypass patient in the then newly built Heart Wing of Concord Hospital in 1998. She appeared in several hospital commercials as a spokesperson for the success of the new cardiac center. Elaine and Gus traveled as �snowbirds� from 1988 to 2007 when they relocated permanently to Stuart, FL. They enjoyed many years of playing golf with friends. Elaine was an active member of the Cedar Pointe FL Women�s Club and a member of St. Joseph�s Catholic Church in Stuart, FL. She participated in numerous activities in Stuart, FL despite her many serious and crippling illnesses. Elaine�s greatest love was her family and her many friends in Florida and New Hampshire. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and an inspiration to all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Church of St. Gabriel Parish in Franklin on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin, where committal prayers will be offered. Arrangements are by the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton.
