Elaine Anita (Read) Brault, formerly of Belmont, NH, passed away peacefully on
Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on July 2,1939, she was
the daughter of Lewis Daniel Read and Pauline (Guyer) Read. Elaine grew up in
Northfield, NH, and attended schools in Northfield and Tilton, graduating from Tilton
High School, Class of 1957.
Upon graduation, Elaine worked as a telephone operator at the Bell Telephone
Company in Franklin, as well as Woolworths Store in Laconia. She enjoyed spending
summers at her parent’s camp on Lake Opechee in Lakeport and at her aunt and
uncle’s house in Willimantic, Connecticut, where she met her future husband, William
Robarge, Sr. Together, they raised a family of five boys while they resided in Belmont
and operated Bill’s Mobil Station and Grocery Store.
While raising a family, Elaine also enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den Mother, being a
member of a Weirs Bowling League, and enjoyed working at K-Mart in Gilford and the
Cherry Webb & Touraine Store in Laconia.
Later in life, Elaine would spend time with family and grandchildren in Ocala, Florida
and, eventually, live with her son Michael and daughter-in-law Diane in Greene, Maine.
Elaine was widely known for her kind spirit and warm heart. She loved collecting old
movies, playing the piano and singing, and attending her grandchildren’s activities
whenever she could. Her generous and joyful nature left a lasting impression on
everyone she met.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, her former husband, and her brothers, Donald
Read and Earl Read. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her surviving family,
including her sons, William Robarge Jr. and his wife Donna, Michael Robarge and his
wife Diane, Jeffrey Robarge, Daniel Robarge and his wife Robin, and Matthew Robarge;
her sisters, Norma Read, and Gayle Colby and her husband Wes; her grandchildren, Jared,
Nicholas, Lauren, Zachary, Courtney, Jackelyn, Hannah, William III and Philip; and her great-
grandson, Jackson; her sisters-in-law, Bonita Read and Jane Read, and several nieces
and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Smart Memorial Home in Tilton, New
Hampshire, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm to celebrate Elaine’s
life and pay their respects.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
