Elaine J. Bennett, age 88, of Franklin, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9th, 2024. She was born on January 8th, 1936, in Franklin, New Hampshire, to the late Adelard and Exillia (Valliere) Gauthier.
Elaine spent many years as a proof reader and typesetter, working for the Journal Transcript in Franklin as well as the Appeal Democrat in Marysville, CA. She also worked for Beede Electric in Penacook, NH.
Elaine had many hobbies and interests. She loved to sew and knit, and was known for her beautiful handmade creations. She enjoyed playing cards. She was a wonderful piano player. She looked forward to hosting and going to parties with her family and friends. Decorating was a passion for her and she proudly displayed her talent by transforming her home every holiday. She loved to cook and made the best donuts around. In her later years, she developed a love for football and the New England Patriots. She could often be found watching replays of old games.
Elaine was a loving and devoted mother to her four daughters, Colleen Murray and her husband Brett, Cynthia Demers and her husband David, Carol Richard and her husband Joseph, and Michele Corey and her husband Todd. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Philip, Shaun, Patrick, Jeremy, Nicolas and Bryce; three nephews, John Hemeon, Wayne and Dick Gauthier, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Bennett D.C., her beloved son, Craig Chapman, her siblings, Lawrence Gauthier, August Gauthier, and Pauline Hemeon and a grandson, Michael Richard.
Elaine will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Smart Memorial Home, 584 West Main St. in Tilton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Church in Belmont with burial to follow in Franklin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Activities Fund at Golden Crest in Franklin, 29 Baldwin St., Franklin, NH 03235, in Elaine's memory. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for her family. May she rest in peace.
