Meredith, NH – Duncan R. Craig, a cherished member of the Meredith community, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025. Born in Boston, MA, on Friday, June 16, 1933, Duncan lived a life marked by love, dedication, and selfless service.
Duncan was a proud graduate of Sylvester High School in Hanover, MA. Duncan honorably served his country in the United States Army. He dedicated much of his career to his passion for golf, working as a self-employed entrepreneur at the Den Brae Golf Course in Sanbornton, NH.
Duncan started volunteering for the Sanbornton Fire Department in 1964. He became Chief in 1981 until his retirement in 1985. Also, Duncan was an esteemed 50 year member of the Meridian Lodge #60 in Franklin, NH, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and the opportunity to give back to his community.
In retirement, Duncan was active in the Meredith Bay Community. He was extremely proud of his last project, the dedication of the Veteran’s American flagpole and granite memorial. Also, Duncan enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, Florida, where he relished the warmer climate and the company of friends.
Duncan is survived by his loving family, which includes daughters Karen Cilley and Jean Kimball (Gene); grandson Christian Cilley; stepsons Shawn, Scott, and Stephen Harriman; nieces and nephews, and his devoted significant other, Cynthia McFadden of Meredith, NH. Duncan was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edward and Emily Craig, brothers Edward and Alec Craig, as well as his cherished spouse, Edith Craig.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Duncan's memory to a charity of one's choice. Graveside services will be held at the Tower Cemetery in Sanbornton, NH on, June 1st, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Followed by a reception at Den Brae Golf Course.
