Dolores A. Genest

July 10, 1937 — November 17, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dolores A. Genest, a cherished resident of Franklin, NH, who departed this life peacefully on Sunday, November 17th, 2024, at the age of 87.

Born on a warm Saturday, July 10th, 1937, in her beloved Franklin, NH, Dolores was the daughter of the late Wilfred J. Genest and Annie M. (Barton) Genest. She embraced the small-town warmth and loving community values throughout her life. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School for 8 years and later Franklin High School.

Dolores dedicated 22 years of her life as a compassionate and meticulous housekeeper at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH and 9 1/2 years for Lakes Region Linen. She also worked at J.J. Newberry’s as a salesclerk, the Merrimack Knitting Mill in Franklin, the Cormier Mill in Ashland and Laconia Laundry in her early years. Her colleagues knew her for her tireless work ethic, warm smile, and generous spirit.

Beyond her professional life, Dolores found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a passionate card player and cherished her time spent playing Bingo with friends—moments that brought laughter and camaraderie into her life.

Dolores is survived by her loving brother, Louis H. Genest of Seminole, FL, and her sister, Annette M. Thompson and her husband Sherman of Laconia, a brother-in-law, Melvin Olewine of Clarksville, TN, two nieces, Lisa Graham of Laconia and Karen Brunell and her husband Kurt of Clarksville, TN; two nephews, Donald Graham and his wife Claire of Rochester and Karl Olewine and his wife Ruth of Indian Mound, TN. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Edward J. Genest and his wife Stacey of Northfield and Jennifer Carter and Norman Carter III both of LA, four great grandchildren and many cousins.

In her journey through life, she was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Wilfred J. Genest and Annie M. Genest, her beloved son, Edward J. Genest, and her dear sister, Gloria I. Olewine.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin, NH.

The Smart Memorial Home in Tilton, www.smartmemorialhome.com , is assisting her family with arrangements.

As we gather to celebrate her life and bid our final goodbyes, we invite all who knew her to join us in remembering Dolores not just for her work and pastimes, but for the love and kindness she shared with everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

May her soul find eternal peace and her legacy of love continue to inspire all.
