Dennis Lee DuBois
March 20, 1943 – October 26, 2024
Dennis Lee DuBois, 81, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, on March 20, 1943, to Walter and Irene DuBois, Dennis grew up in Franklin, New Hampshire, alongside his siblings Richard DuBois, Janice Kenney, David DuBois, and Deborah Davis. His childhood in Franklin fostered a lifelong love for the outdoors and family ties that remained strong throughout his life.
Dennis excelled academically, graduating with honors from the University of Connecticut. He also served with pride in the Marine Corps, a role that shaped his dedication and resilience. He began his career in insurance in New York and New Hampshire before achieving success as the owner of an insurance agency in San Rafael, California. This success allowed him to retire early, after which he returned to New Hampshire and ultimately settled in the Sarasota-Bradenton area of Florida.
A passionate and adventurous spirit, Dennis was an avid traveler who visited dozens of countries. His time spent in Spain and South America sparked a deep connection to the Spanish language, and he became fluent while immersing himself in local cultures. In retirement, he fulfilled a longtime dream by publishing his novel, A Shadow on the Land, showcasing his love of writing.
Dennis’s interests were diverse and vibrant. He was an enthusiastic tennis player, fisherman, golfer, and card player, sharing these passions with many friends across New Hampshire, California, and Florida. He cherished fishing trips on the Pemigewasset River in New Hampshire, where he spent memorable times with family and friends.
Dennis was a loyal fan of the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, and UConn sports teams, often proudly displaying team flags outside his home. He was especially thrilled to witness the Celtics’ recent NBA Finals victory, a final celebration of his lifelong support for his favorite teams.
Dennis is survived by his confidant, Tamera Pescinski, with whom he shared many wonderful years in New Hampshire and Florida. His legacy lives on through his children, Dana DuBois (Elizabeth) of Pembroke Pines, FL; Douglas DuBois of Richmond, VA; Lisa Bradford of Chesapeake, VA; and Jason DuBois of Chesapeake, VA. He also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Hannah, Krista, Madeline, Gabrielle, Michael and Laura; and three great-grandchildren, Leo, Calvin, and Campbell. Dennis is also survived by his brother Richard DuBois, sisters Janice Kenney and Deborah DuBois Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Smart Memorial Home, 584 West Main St., Tilton. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin.
