David C. English

David “Hummer” C. English, 85, a resident of Franklin since 1968, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Concord Hospital after a period of failing health. David was born in Concord on August 27, 1938 the son of John and Rachel F. (Bartlett) Beleski.

Hummer was employed as an Assembler for Webster Valve Company in Franklin for 42 years, retiring in 2012. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1957 with the rank of Private First Class. David was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #49 in Northfield.

Hummer loved his trips to Texas, not only wearing his western attire but collecting other western paraphernalia and was known as “the only New Hampshire cowboy.” He was also famous for his cow skull paintings and steer horns. He also enjoyed camping, especially time spent around the campfire with family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother; Leroy English Jr. and by a cousin; Skip Bartlett.

His family includes his wife of 61 years; Vera B. (Hardy) English of Franklin, his daughter; Shirley M. Clark of Belmont, his son; Clifton A. English of Tilton, his two grandchildren; Clifton A. English Jr. and Colton English both of Georgia, his only cousin; Barbara Rocha of Fall River, MA and nieces and nephews.

There will not be any calling hours held. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM in Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.

Memorial donations in memory of Hummer, may be made to the American Legion Post #49 in Northfield, NH.
