Charles Henry Leavitt
Charles H. Leavitt, 92, a former resident of Glen, passed away peacefully at the New Hampshire Veterans Home on Friday, April 10, 2020.
He was born in New York City on September 17, 1927, the son of Charles G. and Ilma (Behrns) Leavitt, and later moved to Mastic Beach, Long Island, NY.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from September 15, 1945 to September 27, 1946. After being honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class, he worked as a carpenter building houses. He married Gloria Mauro in 1951 and later helped raise their two children.
Charles worked in the Aerospace Industry for approximately 20 years, employed by Grumman Aerospace Corporation and Fairchild Republic Company.
He moved along with his wife to Glen in the mid seventies. While there, he worked for Kearsarge Metallurgical Corporation in Conway, prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Gloria (Mauro) Leavitt and his daughter Louise Leavitt both living in Brunswick, ME and by his son, Steven Leavitt of Intervale.
There were no calling hours held. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen for his family.
