C. Ann Plummer, 85, of Boscawen died on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Born November 5, 1937, as Carol Ann Bascom she was the granddaughter of Lizzie Bascom and step-granddaughter of Albert Kay. As a child she was adopted by her stepfather William Chase. Ann lived with her Aunt Natalie (Nat) and Uncle William (Bill) Villemaire and considered them and their children, Marilyn, Donna and Ronnie, her family. Ann was predeceased by her husband of 60 years John G. Plummer in 2022, her father William Chase, sisters Patricia Kay and Frances Kay, brothers Lewis Chase and Robert Chase, stepsisters Beatrice Chase and Carole Chase, as well as grandsons Lewis John Lull Plummer in 1998 and Jack Harrison Rice Sr. in 2018. Ann will be best remembered for creatively providing for her children and knowing the value of a dollar. She was an expert seamstress and was especially proud of having made her daughter Jan's wedding gown, and knitting and crocheting many blankets, hats and mittens over the years, as well as growing vegetable and flower gardens. She was a Girl Scout and 4-H leader in Bow where she taught youth sewing and agricultural skills. She was also a strong advocate for providing support to the American Red Cross. Ann enjoyed being a stay at home Mom until her children approached high school when she went to work to provide better educational opportunities for her children. She is also remembered for her fierce spirit and unwavering determination. She leaves her daughters Karen M. Reid of Concord, Janice E. Rice and her husband John of Loudon, Martha A. L. Cheney of Northfield, and son John D. Plummer and his wife Lyn Lull of Bow. She also leaves her grandchildren Sara M. Rosemeyer of Nebraska, Emily S. Reid of Concord, Samuel M. Reid and his wife Mariah of Greenland, Brian J. Rice of Dover, Andrew J. Rice of Loudon, Gabrielle L. Cheney of Concord, Jacob M. Cheney of Northfield, Rebekah L. Lull Plummer of Sanbornton, and Coleman A. Lull Plummer of Bow. She also leaves her great grandsons Aiden Reid and Jack H. Rice Jr. both of Concord. Ann's family would like to thank all of the caring and supportive residents and staff at Merrimack County Nursing Home where she made many friends. A graveside burial will be held on Friday, October 13th, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at the New Hampshire Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen.
