Sanbornton Bruce William Blackwood Bruce W. Blackwood, 59, a resident of Sanbornton, died at his home, February 15, 2016 following a sudden illness. Bruce was born in Beverly, MA, August 14, 1956, son of William R. and Barbara (Bezanson) Blackwood, also of Sanbornton. He spent his youth and was schooled in Topsfield, MA. Bruce and the Blackwood family summered in Sanbornton on the family farm for many years and moved there permanently in 1976. He had lived in his own home for 32 years. He worked over the years as a machinist and a carpenter and was known to be a perfectionist in cabinet making. Bruce also restored antique automobiles. In car restoration, he always stripped the cars to bare metal with sandblasting equipment. As mentioned, Bruce was an ultimate perfectionist with this work also. He leaves behind a large family in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and California. In addition to his parents of Sanbornton, he is survived by: his sister, Cynthia Kapp, her husband, Woodman of Edisto Island, South Carolina; two nieces, Allison Jacobson, husband, Joseph and son Mack. Isabel Basso and husband, Josh, all from South Carolina. In New Hampshire Bruce is remembered by many loving family members and special friends in Sanbornton and Franklin. Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.) in Tilton, NH. A Time of Remembrance will be at 1:30 for friends and family to share their memories of Bruce. Burial will be at a later date. Contributions in Bruce's name may be made to The Cancer Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.
