Franklin Bertrand David Deshaies Bertrand �Bert� D. Deshaies, 85, a lifelong resident of Franklin died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Mountain Ridge-Genesis Care Center in Franklin following a period of failing health. Bert was born in Franklin, September 21, 1929, son of the late, Lucien and Marie (Dubois) Deshaies. Bert attended schools in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1948 where he excelled in sports. Bert was a New England sports enthusiast and enjoyed attending local high school events. Bert spent many hours with his favorite pastime and the game of golf. He was a longtime member of the Mojalaki Golf Club and also golfed at other area clubs and country clubs. Prior to his retirement Bert had been employed for 26 years with the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission. He served with the U. S. Army from 1949 to 1951 and later served with the U. S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. Bert was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, # 2170. He also held memberships at the VFW Post # 1698 in Franklin and American Legion, Post # 49 in Northfield. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul Church in Franklin. Bert was predeceased by his wife, Stella (Horzempa) Bozek-Deshaies, stepson, Edward Bozek Jr, sister, Blanche Masse, brother, Henry Deshaies, his son Jeffrey and half brother, Arnold Deshaies. He leaves a stepson, Stanley Bozek of Franklin and Stan�s son, Sean Bozek, presently serving in the US Army in Afghanistan. He also leaves his longtime companion, Theresa Lefebvre. According to Bert�s wishes there are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 7th at 11:00 A. M. at St. Paul Church of St. Gabriel Parish in Franklin. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the charity of one�s choice.
