Life Legacy Tilton Benjamin Stein Jr. Benjamin Stein Jr., 84, a resident of Tilton for the past five years died February 27, 2013, following a period of failing health. Ben, as he was known, was born in Franklin, November 22, 1928, son of the late Benjamin Stein, Sr. and Clara M. (Stott) Stein. He lived in Franklin until moving to Tilton. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1946. Ben worked as a meter reader for over 25 years with Public Service Company of New Hampshire, prior to his retirement. He later worked as a bailiff with the Franklin District Court for 20 years. He served honorably with the U. S. Army during the Korean War, discharged as a Sergeant. He was a founding member of the Franklin Targeteers and also served as range officer. He was also a member of the Sunset Mountain Fish and Game Club in Canterbury, and life member of the National Rifle Association. In the 1980�s, he was on the New Hampshire State Rifle Team and competed at the national matches at Camp Perry, Ohio. His family includes, His wife of 63 years: Mary Lou (Taylor) Stein of Tilton Daughters: Janice D. Jurta and husband Wayne of Tilton Marcia S. Berube and husband Charlie of New Durham Two grandchildren, Eric J. Jurta of Denver, Colorado and Sarah E. Jurta of Brookline, Massachusetts. Sister: Mildred Lorden of Franklin Several nieces and nephews Calling hours will be Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. Burial with military honors will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 D. W. Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101 or to the Franklin VNA and Hospice at 75 Chestnut St., Franklin, NH 03235.
