Beatrice R. (Ready) Kimball

April 7, 1923 — February 24, 2014

Franklin Beatrice R. Kimball Beatrice R. Kimball, 90, of Franklin, died Monday February 24 at Concord Hospital after a period of declining health. She was born April 7, 1923 in Manchester, NH to Patrick and Caroline MacLeod Ready and was a sister to brothers John and William and sister Gloria. Following graduation from Manchester Central High School Bea decided to broaden her horizons, graduating from a Manchester business school and heading off to Washington, DC to a job in the Department of the Navy. She could not have imagined that she would be in the nations capital on Dec. 7, 1941 when Pearl Harbor was attacked and WWII began in earnest for the United States.Washington quickly was populated with soldiers and sailors, among them Beas brother Bill who entered the Navy.Photos from that time show innocent, happy young friends enjoying their independence and being in the center of the nations capitol during wartime. Following WWII she returned to NH, working at the VeteransAdministration where she met her future husband Douglas Kimball, married July 1, 1950 and moved to Franklin where they eventually bought their much loved home on Beech Street, livingtherefor more than 50 years. When her children were in school Bea returned to working outside the home and spent many enjoyable years at Franklin Savings Bank where she began as secretary to the president and eventually became a mortgage officer and Asst.Vice-President.She truly loved her work. Always, her love for her family, generosity and caring for others have been a hallmark of her life and she will be sorely missed by her family and the countless people she touched throughout her life. Bea was preceded in death by her husband Douglas, her parents, brothers and grandson Ian Burns. She is survived by her daughters Lynne Kimball Burns and her husband William of Franklin, Deborah Kimball and her husband Eugene Shear of Concord, a granddaughter Sarah Burns and her husband Chris Brown, two great-grandchildren Aislyn and Liam Brown of New Durham and her sister Gloria Rase of Florida. Beas family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of 3 North at the Merrimack County Nursing Home, the staff of Concord Hospital and CRVNA Hospice for the care they gave during Beas last years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 8, at 11:00 AM at the Franklin Congregational-Christian Church, South Main Street, West Franklin, NH. Spring burial will be in the family lot at Franklin Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton Memorial gifts made be made to the Edna C.
