Webster Avis V. (Sabino) Roy Avis V. Roy, 81, a resident of Webster since 1959 died Friday, September 26, 2014 at her son's home in Manchester following a period of failing health, with her family at her side. Most recently she had lived at the White Rock Community in Bow. Avis was born in East Wilton, Maine, April 14, 1933, daughter of the late, Louis L. Sabino and Hazel I. (Pease) Sabino Curtis. She spent her youth and grew up in Wilton, attending schools there. Following graduation she went on to receive her diploma as a registered nurse from the Rumford Community School of Nursing in Rumford, ME. Avis worked at the Farmington Memorial Hospital in Farmington, ME before moving to New Hampshire in 1959. Once in New Hampshire she worked at Concord Hospital as an RN for 20 years, then as a charge nurse from 1959 to 1979. She then worked at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen for 14 years, working from 1979 to 1993. She was supervisor and the In-Service Director, retiring in 1993. Avis obtained her Master's Degree in Education while working at the County Nursing Home. She was also a part-time police officer for the Town of Webster for 15 years. During her retirement she taught the LNA program for the Laconia Voc Tech in Laconia. She was a longtime parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Penacook. Avis was predeceased by a son, Arlen J. Roy. Her husband of 46 years, Aime J. Roy died in 2001. Her family includes, Her daughter, Irene M. Smith of Penacook, sons, A. Jay Roy of Brownwood, TX, Adam E. Roy of Manchester, Kevin W. Roy of Punta Gorda, FL and Michael L. Roy of Hyde Park, NY. 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws Sister, Jean Johnson of Livermore Falls, ME and lifelong best friend, Anna Valente of Peabody, MA. , brothers, Louis and James Sabino, both of Peabody, MA Calling hours will be held Saturday, October 4th .from 10:00 A. M. to 12:00 P. M. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.) in Tilton. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 P.M. in Corser Hill Cemetery in Webster.
