Belmont Alice Jean (Sheldon) Brown Alice J. Brown, 68, a longtime resident of Belmont, passed away, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Belmont after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family was at her side. Alice was born in Camden, New Jersey on March 15, 1948 daughter of Robert H. and Alice J. (Sears) Sheldon. She moved as a teenager with her family to Northfield. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the Tilton-Northfield High School, class of 1967. Alice was employed in housekeeping at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, retiring as supervisor following 20 years of service. She cherished the time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was very involved in the activities of Chelsea and Madison as they advanced from elementary school through High School. She never missed a concert, game, awards ceremony or fundraising event. She enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking and paper crafting as evidenced by her diligence in making sure every holiday, family members received a special handmade card. Anyone who knew Alice, would have a true friend; someone that would lend a helping hand at any given moment. In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Dale Brown. She leaves, Her daughter, Wendy (Stephen) Borden of Belmont Granddaughters, Chelsea and Madison Borden Great-grandsons, Hayden and Cooper Her sister, Bobbie Cilley (Julie Skinner) of Center Barnstead Three nephews and their families And her special companion, Bob Chase of Belmont At Alice�s request, calling hours will not be held. A gathering, and burial, will be held for her family in South Road Cemetery in Belmont later in the spring when weather permits. Assisting with arrangements is the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any remembrances may be made to the Belmont High School, 255 Seavey Road, Belmont, NH 03220, specifically to the � Foreign Languages Program� to help defray expenses for the French and Spanish Clubs to travel abroad so that more students can participate in the same wonderful experiences that her own granddaughters enjoyed.
